20 Percent

Act Party

It's becoming more and more concerning the fact that their are parties out there at do not see the need for a disability policy.

The latest is The Act Party. I quizzed them on Twitter in response to a tweet promoting their policies. However after getting a very vague reply, they would not confirm that they did or did not have a disability policy.

In no way do I want 20percent to be a campaign favouring the right or the left, but it's hard when two key minor parties do not have a policy at all.

When asked to speak at the Whangarei forum on Disability Issues, candidate Robin Greive replied saying he could not attend due to being out of the city, but he did say

"Thank you for the opportunity to talk about ACT policies as they relate to people with a disability. We promote a freeing up of the labour market by reforming employment law to make it easier for people with disabilities to gain employment. ACT's economic policies are predicted to double NZ's wealth in 15 years. There are not too many social problems that will still exist when we are twice as wealthy."

Unfortunately this is all 20percent has to go on when it comes to the ACT Party's attitude towards disability issues.
